Studio Ami is led by Anouska Milstein, working with commercial and residential clients to create spaces within which they can thrive. Studio Ami’s clients are those who understand the importance of great design, are interested in a conceptual approach, and are prepared to go on a journey of self-interrogation and exploration. This process shapes considered and tailored resolutions, suiting both current and aspirational lifestyles.
Milan born and Naarm (Melbourne) raised, Anouska grew up in a home filled with iconic furniture & lighting pieces, art and photography, eclectic antiques, and a library of design books. This, combined with wide-reaching travel from a young age, led to a fascination with spaces, and the stories of the objects and people within them.
After completing a Psychology degree in 2014 Anouska went on to pursue studies in Interior Design at RMIT, from which she graduated with first class honours. Following her studies she pursued work exclusively within small boutique Architecture firms, giving her the opportunity to learn architectural practice - expanding her capabilities and knowledge beyond the realm of more traditional interior design. After 6 years of practical work, Anouska launched Studio Ami in 2020, realising her dream to work closely and collaboratively with her clients. All of this leads to Studio Ami’s ethos: “Ami” - not only an acronym for Anouska Milstein Interiors - but also the French word for ‘friend’.
Finally, and importantly, Studio Ami is a friend of the earth. Committed to being an ethically and environmentally conscious business, Studio Ami runs on green energy with Power Shop, banks ethically with Bank Australia, holds superannuation with Australian Ethical, and supports the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF) as a monthly donor. We acknowledge that the country in which we practice always was, and always will be Aboriginal land.
