Our client's brief was to update the kitchen and laundry of their long time home, creating areas that felt connected to the architecture, and which could better tell a story of who they are.

New opportunities for benchtop dining and areas for object and book display all come together to give a new kitchen with personality that could have been there all along.

  • Where previously there was a continuous, tall upstand disconnecting the kitchen from the dining area, there is now a smaller upstand to conceal only dishes and daily supplements, and a new curved breakfast bar area.

Tall runs of joinery open up to moments for collected books, objects, memories. Textures start bold in the centre of the room, and then gradient to soft as they spread beyond.

Copper-clad cabinets referenced an existing aged copper seat next to the fireplace just beyond.

  • The kitchen leads to a reading room, which was refinished in a custom green colour to match an existing artwork.
